BHUBANESHWAR: The black money seized from Odisha Congress MP Dheeraj Sahu's residences and Boudh Distilleries owned by him, accounts for a massive Rs 350 crores. 176 bags were counted by officials on Monday which included the whopping sum.
This is the highest amount of income tax collected in a single operation in the country. It is reported that more money was recovered from other bags from his office premises.
50 officers from three SBI branches counted the money using 40 note-counting machines. About 50 IT personnel were there to help. The recovered money was placed in 200 bags and the officials moved it to a safe place. Income tax sources said a notice was issued to the family to trace the source of such money.
With the raid, the BJP-Congress battle has intensified in Odisha. In an ironic fall, the same Dheeraj Sahu showed apprehension in a tweet that he posted in August 2022, where he mentioned being saddened by the rampant use of black money and corruption in India.
“If anyone can root out corruption from this country, it is only the Congress." Dheeraj Sahu wrote back in 2022 on social media platform X.
