THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a statement, the CPM state secretariat urged the Congress to put an end to the violence that it has been carrying out to disrupt the Nava Kerala Sadas. According to the CPM, violence is being carried out with the knowledge of VD Satheesan and K Sudhakaran. The CPM secretariat also protested against the violence perpetrated by the Congress and KSU workers against the Sadas in Ernakulam.

'The violence that started when the Sadas reached Kannur was stopped for a while. However, it has been repeated. The statements of Congress leaders incite violence. No one opposes democratic protests. But it will be good if the leaders of the protest realize the impact of throwing shoes and stones at the vehicles in which the Chief Minister and ministers are travelling. The activists have been instructed to maintain restraint and make the Nava Kerala Sadas a huge success, no matter what the violence takes place,' the CPM state secretariat said.

'Several problems presented by the people of Kerala before the government through the Nava Kerala Sadas have been resolved. If Congress sets out with stones and shoes after getting terrified by the huge public participation in the Nava Kerala Sadas, there will be a popular protest accordingly. Congress leaders should leave the path of violence and take the democratic path,' the statement read.

Act of stopping trouble makers is not violence: Chief Minister
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the act of stopping those who deliberately attempt to create problems against the Nava Kerala Sadas cannot be considered violence.

"Congress leaders are behind the KSU activists who threw shoes at Nava Kerala bus. The protest is a deliberate attempt to provoke. This cannot be encouraged," the CM said.
