JAIPUR: After much anticipation, the BJP has put an end to the rumours regarding the new chief minister of Rajasthan. The party leadership has announced Bhajanlal Sharma as the new Chief Minister of the state. Bhajanlal Sharma, who belongs to the Brahmin community, is an MLA from the Sanganer constituency. This is the first time that Bhajanlal Sharma has become an MLA. The BJP's unexpected action in Rajasthan follows the appointment of fresh faces to the positions of Chief Minister in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
Bhajanlal became the MLA for the first time by beating Congress candidate Pushpendra Baradwaj by 48,081 votes. Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa have been named Deputy Chief Ministers. Diya Kumari belongs to the Rajput community. Prem Chand Bairwa belongs to the Scheduled Caste. Central Observer Rajnath Singh announced the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers at the BJP Legislative Party meeting held in Jaipur.
