KOCHI: The High Court has stayed the action of the governor who suggested students to the Senate of Kerala University. The High Court action was taken on a petition filed by Nandakishore and Aravind, students of Mar Evanios College, Thiruvananthapuram. Justice TR Ravi passed the interim order.

The Governor had nominated four students to the Senate. It is alleged that the governor has nominated these students ignoring those who are qualified. The high court order has come as a blow to the governor while the government-governor war is intensifying.

The SFI protest against the governor was due to the rejection of the government's panel in the universities of Kerala and Calicut and the appointment of members on his own. Governor Arif Mohammad Khan also accused the chief minister of conspiracy behind the black flag protests by SFI activists at three places in Thiruvananthapuram.

With the governor nominating 18 senators on his own, the left representation in the Calicut University Syndicate was reduced. The panel submitted by the government for the Kerala University Senate was completely rejected by the governor. Although it has been six months since the Kerala and Calicut senate elections, due to the delay in the nomination of the governor, the elections to the syndicate have not been held.
