KOCHI: The High Court adjourned the hearing of the petition filed by the parents of Dr Vandana Das seeking a CBI investigation into the murder of their daughter who was brutally stabbed to death at Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital. The HC also adjourned the petition filed by the accused Sandeep seeking bail in the case to the 20th.

Justice P. Gopinath also suggested that the interim order staying the trial proceedings should be continued till then. Accused Sandeep approached the High Court for bail in a situation where the trial proceedings were suspended. During the hearing, the High Court asked the counsel for Vandana's parents if they had any objection to directing the trial court to consider the bail plea regardless of the stay order. Subsequently, the petitions were moved for clarification and further proceedings.

Dr Sandeep, who was brought to the hospital for a police medical examination on the night of May 10, stabbed Vandana in rage which resulted in her death. Vandana’s parents KG Mohandas and T. Vasanthakumari alleged a serious lapse from police and said the investigation is being held surreptitiously without giving any hints to the public or media.
