NEW DELHI: Speaker Om Birla sought an explanation from the Parliament Security Director regarding the security breach in the Lok Sabha. On Wednesday. two persons entered Lok Sabha with opened colour smoke canisters and two persons trespassed into the Parliament compound shouting slogans. When the House resumed at 2 pm, the Speaker announced that they had been arrested and that an investigation would be conducted into the matter. Delhi Police has also been asked to join the investigation.

The persons who got into the House have been identified as Sagar Sharma and D Manoranjan. As per available information, Manoranjan is an engineering graduate. A pass issued by a BJP MP was also seized from one of the trespassers. He got the pass from the office of Pratap Sinha, the BJP MP from Mysuru. Amol from Maharashtra and Neelam from Hisar in Haryana were arrested outside Parliament.

Congress MP Karti Chidambaram said he initially thought someone had fallen from the visitors' gallery. The security lapse came to light after the second man jumped. He also stated that one person rushed to the speaker's chamber.

The incident took place around 1 pm today. Two people jumped from the visitors' gallery and ran to the Lok Sabha chamber. They were immediately taken out by the security personnel. Most seriously, the security lapse came on the anniversary of the Parliament attack. A forensic team is investigating the incident.
