KOCHI: University Registrar Dr V Meera informed the High Court that three more investigations are underway in addition to the police investigation into the November 25 stampede incident in CUSAT in which four people died. This was stated in the reply affidavit submitted to the petition filed by KSU state president Aloshious Xavier demanding a judicial inquiry. The committee was formed with syndicate member KK Krishnakumar as the convener to examine the failure in the organization and to give suggestions to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.

Besides this, a special team headed by Thrikkakara Assistant Commissioner is investigating. As soon as the incident occurred, the government conducted a preliminary inquiry and asked the Director of Collegiate Education for a report within two days. Based on this report, an expert committee has been appointed for a detailed investigation on November 28. The affidavit said that the Ernakulam Collector has directed the Fort Kochi Sub-Collector to conduct a magisterial inquiry in addition.

Dr Deepak Kumar Sahu, former principal of the School of Engineering, has filed a petition to join the petition. It is stated in the petition that he was the principal when the incident took place and that is why he is applying to join the party.
