Recently, director Ranjith said that Mohanlal's Thrissur slang in Padmarajan's 'Thoovanathumbikal' was boring, sparking a series of discussions. Padmarajan's son also came forward in response to Ranjith's remark. Now actor Mohanlal has responded to Ranjith's comments.
The actor's response came during an interview in connection with the promotions of 'Neru' directed by Jeethu Joseph. When the presenter asked about Ranjith's remark, Mohanlal gave his response with a laugh,
'I am not intending to challenge him. I did what director Padmarajan told me at that time. It is a movie watched by lakhs of people. I am not from Thrissur, I can only speak in the way I know. At that time I had no one to correct it," Mohanlal said.
"Padmarajan is a person who was in Thrissur All India Radio. I spoke when many people from Thrissur were present. Not all Thrissur people speak like that. Perhaps there was no one to correct then. That's why it happened," he added.
When asked by the host what he had to say about dowry as a father of a girl, Mohanlal said that he didn't take dowry at the time of his marriage. Mohanlal further said that his daughter will not have such a marriage and he believes that dowry is not right. Director Jeethu Joseph, who was present in the interview, also responded to this query.
"I also have two daughters. Nowadays girls are also strong. My children have told me that they will not marry dowry-seekers," Jeethu Joseph said.
