CHIKKAMAGALURU: A youth killed his wife by poisoning her food with cyanide for opposing his extra-marital affair. The incident happened at Chikkamagaluru in Karnataka. Darshan (37) was arrested in the case of killing his wife Shweta (30).
Darshan, a lab technician, was running his own diagnostic center in Bengaluru. The two got married seven years ago and theirs was a love marriage. The couple has a four-year-old son. The family, residing in Bengaluru, returned to their hometown Devarunda in Chikkamagaluru three days ago.
Shweta recently discovered his affair with a woman. A fight broke out between the two over it. Darshan's brother informed Shweta's family about her death on Monday morning. He said that she died of heart attack. On reaching home, her family saw injury marks on her body. The family got suspicious and informed the police. An audio clip of Shweta requesting the woman to sever ties with Darshan was also submitted as evidence.
Her post mortem report had also indicated the presence of poison. On being interrogated, he confessed to the crime. He told police that he killed his wife by adding cyanide to her food.
The police said that a murder case was filed against him and that they are waiting for the forensic report. He said that the investigation in the case is progressing.
