CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has asked the Kerala government to ensure infrastructure and safety for the pilgrims coming from Tamil Nadu. In this regard, Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary Sivadas Meena held a phone discussion with Kerala Chief Secretary V Venu. Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary informed that Kerala Government has assured to provide adequate infrastructure and safety.

At the same time, the police had said that the stone pillars erected for the construction of the roof of 'Pathinettam Padi' (sacred steps) at Sabarimala would make it difficult for the pilgrims to scale it. The police have informed the Devaswom Board about this. The police's explanation in this regard came when the Devaswom Board criticized the police for not being fast enough in moving the pilgrims through the sacred steps.

The project included a falling roof over carved stone pillars. Once the new roof comes, pujas can be performed smoothly. Along with this, the protection of the gold-plated sacred steps can also be ensured. The police say that these pillars, which are now incomplete, have become a hindrance for them and it should be removed.
