THRISSUR: ED disclosed that funds from the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank's fraud case made their way into the account of the CPM. The ED highlighted that the fraud by CPM leader and Vadakanchery municipal councilor PR Aravindakshan was just the beginning of a larger scheme.
The ED's revelations unfolded during the hearing for Aravindakshan's bail plea, where it was disclosed that the CPM had a distinct account within the Karuvannur Bank. Additionally, the ED alleged that Aravindakshan coerced the bank's board of directors to approve unlawful loans. Furthermore, it was revealed that Satish Kumar, a key accused attempted to leverage Aravindakshan's influence reaching out to people including ministers for illicit transactions.
Previously, the court had denied bail for Satish, the primary accused, in light of these findings. ED urged the court to dismiss Aravindakshan's bail plea emphasizing that the investigation into the case remains ongoing. The hearing for the plea has been adjourned until the 21st for further deliberation.
