IDUKKI: Investigating officer TD Sunil Kumar said that there was no lapse on the part of the police in collecting evidence in the case where a six-year-old was sexually assaulted and murdered in Vandiperiyar. He also stated that forensic experts had reached the spot and collected the evidence.
"I can say with 100 percent certainty that there was no lapse on the part of the police in the investigation. My conclusion is that Arjun is the accused. We are examining other aspects of the judgment. We will go for an appeal against the judgement. The police had reached the quarters on the night the child died. Following this, the place was sealed and secured. We went there the next morning and started the inquest proceedings. A fingerprint expert, scientific expert and photographer were also present. I have held a meeting with the prosecutor to decide the further course of action in the case," Sunil Kumar said.
Meanwhile, the 6-year-old girl's father said that the verdict was unacceptable. He said that the court only heard what was argued by the defendant. He also said that he will file an appeal against the verdict.
