THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the state will receive heavy rain in the upcoming days. The IMD said that various districts in the state will receive heavy rainfall on Saturday and Sunday. A yellow alert has been sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki districts tomorrow.

The IMD has warned that isolated places in the state will receive extremely heavy rainfall on Sunday. An orange alert has been sounded in Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts on Sunday. Apart from these districts, isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Palakkad and Malappuram districts will also receive heavy rain on Sunday.

Heavy rainfall had recently caused widespread damage across Tamil Nadu. The new rain warning comes at a time when the state is recovering from the damage.
