MALAPPURAM: At least five people, including a child, died in a crash involving a bus carrying Sabarimala pilgrims and an autorickshaw in Manjeri. The bus was carrying Sabarimala pilgrims from Karnataka. All five deceased were passengers of the auto. The deceased have been identified as auto driver Abdul Majeed, Muhsina, Thesnima, Raisa and Thesnima's daughter. The accident was around 5 pm.

The auto was going from Kizhakkethala to Pulloor when it met with the accident. The autorickshaw was completely destroyed on impact. All five died on the spot. They were shifted to Manjeri Medical College Hospital. The rescue operation was carried out by the locals. It is unclear what caused the crash.
