IDUKKI: The prosecution, in next week, will appeal against the court's verdict acquitting the accused in the rape and murder case of a six-year-old girl in Vandiperiyar. A demand to quash the current judgment will also be raised. Meanwhile, the child's family is preparing to protest against the court verdict.

The child's family will stage a protest at 10:30 am today. The family is demanding that the acquittal of accused Arjun be quashed.

The Special Public Prosecutor will hand over the case files to the Director General of Prosecutions today. The appeal will be prepared after consulting the legal experts of the DGP's office. The Kattapana fast track court acquitted Arjun, who was the accused in the Vandiperiyar case, due to lack of evidence.

The prosecution claims that justice will be served by the Supreme Court and there are enough pieces of evidence. The relatives of the child also want to file an appeal. The Congress leadership has also informed that they will provide legal assistance in the case.
