VARKALA: A bitter exchange inside a tea shop ended with a youth getting stabbed in Melvettoor on Friday. Valayantakuzhi native Rahul (26) suffered a serious injury in the stabbing. Rahul complained about the banana fritter in the shop being tasteless and informed the shop owner about his worry. However, Altaf (38), a native of Arivalam Beach intervened in the talk and had a heated exchange with Rahul on the matter.
During the altercation, Altaf stabbed Rahul in the back with the knife he was holding in his hand and escaped in his vehicle.
Rahul is undergoing treatment at Parippally Medical College Hospital. Varkala police meanwhile registered the arrest of the accused. According to police, Altaf is a history-sheeter and has been accused in murder cases within the Anchuthengu police station range. The accused who was produced in the court was remanded.
