THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Widespread rain in Thiruvananthapuram. It is raining in all urban areas and interior areas. The rain that started last night has eased a bit but is continuing still. However, there are no reports of water logging anywhere. The cyclonic circulation that has formed near Sri Lanka is the reason for the non-stop rain in the capital.

According to the IMD, there is a possibility of moderate rain at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Idukki districts in the next three hours.

Meanwhile, the meteorological centre has informed that there is a possibility of isolated heavy rain in the state till Wednesday. The rains are due to the strengthening of the easterly winds under the influence of the cyclonic circulation that has formed near Sri Lanka. An orange alert has been declared in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Idukki today. These places will receive heavy rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm in 24 hours. A yellow alert has been declared in Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram districts today.
