THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Change in orange alerts in the state. Orange alert has been declared in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts. The Meteorological Center has informed that there is a possibility of heavy rain in isolated places of the districts. 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm of heavy rainfall is expected in the next 24 hours.

According to IMD, there is a possibility of moderate rain at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts and light rain at isolated places in Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam districts in the next three hours. Yellow alert has been declared in Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki districts today.

Special instructions to the general public

  1. Meteorological Center has advised people to evacuate as per the instructions of the authorities in case of heavy rain warning.
  2. People living in the danger zones should be cautious as there is a possibility of severe storm surge along various coasts. They should move at the necessary stage. Fishing equipment should be secured.
  3. Residents of unsealed houses and those living in houses with weak roofs should be prepared to evacuate based on the warnings in the coming days.
  4. Trees/posts/boards etc. standing in danger conditions in private and public areas should be secured and trees should be trimmed. Dangerous conditions should be brought to the attention of the authorities.
  5. People should be ready to fully comply with covid norms at the stages of shifting to relief camps.
