PATHANAMTHITTA: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan asked how a person who has served as a representative of the people can call the protesters criminals. The Chief Minister also criticized Governor Arif Mohammed Khan's action as rash. He was speaking at a press conference in Pathanamthitta.
'The governor is just saying random things. His actions naturally invited protests. People were found and appointed in the universities with central assistance. The Governor accepted the proposal of RSS. That is what led to the student protest.
The Governor has worked as a People's Representative and as a Minister. He has also worked with people. How can someone like that call the agitators criminals? Is that how a public servant should approach an agitation? What an unwise move this is. Anyone watching his performance will wonder what is wrong with him. Did he say words that a person in a high position could use? The governor tried to provoke as much as possible in every matter.
Has any high-ranking person ever rushed to confront someone who raised a black flag against them? What does it mean? How provocatively things are moving forward. There is a deliberate attempt to destroy the peaceful atmosphere of our land.
There was a lot of controversy as we were shown a lot of black flags and people who jumped in front of the bus were pushed away. I waved at those who came with the black flag just like I waved at others. Did anyone use foul language at them? Did we dare to yell at them? It was only said that the protest should not turn into violence. All I said was if the situation turns violent, the police will intervene and there would be no point in lamenting about it later'- the Chief Minister clarified.
