suspended-

NEW DELHI: 78 MPs who protested in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha demanding Amit Shah's statement on the security breach in the Lok Sabha were suspended en masse. Parliament witnessed the biggest act in history.

34 members of the Rajya Sabha and 30 members of the Lok Sabha were suspended from the ongoing session. This includes six Malayali MPs in the Lok Sabha and eight in the Rajya Sabha. The serious breach of discipline of 11 MPs in the Rajya Sabha and three MPs in the Lok Sabha was left to the Privileges Committee. The suspension period may be extended based on the committee's report.

Last week, one Rajya Sabha member and 13 Lok Sabha members were suspended. With this, the number of people who faced action in the current conference has increased to 92. This is the first time in the history of Parliament that so many MPs have been suspended. In 1989, the Congress government had suspended 63 MPs. Several parliament leaders were suspended for passing crucial bills by avoiding protests.

Speaker Om Birla clarified that there is no need for a statement from the government as the investigation into the security lapse is underway. There are four days left for the conference. In the absence of the opposition, there is a possibility of early adjournment of the winter session by passing three criminal law bills.
