KOCHI: CPM Thrissur District Secretary MM Varghese will be questioned again by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Karuvannur bank fraud case. A notice to appear will be issued tomorrow. He came at the office in Kochi at 10.15 yesterday morning and was released around 5.30 in the evening.

ED is questioning Varghese for the fourth time. The ED asked Varghese about the report of CPM's investigation into the Karuvannur scam and accounts suspected to belong to CPM leaders. ED concluded that the five suspicious accounts in the bank were used for CPM. Varghese was summoned for questioning for the fourth time on the basis that the party received the commission amount of illegal loans through these accounts.

CPM area committee member M.B. Raju, Karuvannur Bank's former Vice President Peethambaran were also present before the ED yesterday. They were also interrogated and released on the suspicion of having transferred money to the party through the accounts in Karuvannur Bank in their names.
