THRISSUR: The man-eater tiger caught from Wayanad is housed at Puthur Zoological Park. Permission will be sought to accommodate it in the park after completing quarantine of 60 days. The tiger is being treated for the deep cut injuries on its face. The doctors examined in detail the wound on the tiger's face and leg. The injury is believed to have suffered in an encounter with another animal in the forest.

The tiger was brought to the isolation center in a specially prepared vehicle of the forest department yesterday morning at 8.20 am. The tiger is 13 years and is huge in size. Its weight has not been officially disclosed. The injury on its face is deep. The doctors said that since the tiger is aged, it should be treated carefully. Antibiotics are given based on the depth of the wound.

It is being treated by doctors from Thrissur Veterinary College along with doctors from Wayanad. The lodging place of the tiger was arranged in Puthur on Monday night itself. This is the tiger that attacked and killed Prajeesh, a dairy farmer in Koodallur, Wayanad and ate his body parts.

Chicken of 8 kg was given
The tiger was given eight kilograms of chicken when brought from Wayanad. Even after reaching Puthur, it was given chicken but did not eat much. It will be given food including eight kilograms of beef in Puthur. The zoological park has an open space of one acre for the tigers. The tiger was captured from Wayanad after ten days of intense search. The park has tigers Vaiga and Durga brought from Neyyar, a tiger cub, birds and a lion-tailed monkey.

Expert treatment and care will be ensured for the injured tiger. A decision to accommodate the tiger in the park will be taken only after the tiger has recovered from its injuries and is fully healthy, said R Keerthi, director of Puthur Zoological Park in Thrissur.
