MOOLAMATTOM: A 37-year-old youth, suspected to be behind the murder of his parents, was found hanging early Thursday morning. The body was found hanging from a tree near his house. The accused has been identified as Ajesh. He murdered his parents Cheradi Keeriyanikkal Kumaran (70) and his wife Thankamma (65) yesterday.

Kumaran, who was earlier a wood cutter, was living with his wife Thankamma doing guaranteed work after his eye sustained injuries in a car accident a few months ago. Kumaran's sister Kamalakshi came in search of the couple when the two did not turn up for work yesterday. When Kamalakshi called them from outside, heard moaning and humming from the house. When she saw the door opened, she went inside and saw Thangamma lying on the floor in a pool of blood. Thangamma asked for water to drink. After giving water, Kamalakshi called her friend and public worker Alice.

When both entered the room, saw Kumaran lying dead on the bed. Immediately informed the neighbours and Kanjar police. The police reached the spot and found that the incident happened at night. The seriously injured Thankamma and Kumaran's body were first taken to a private hospital in Moolamattom in a fire force’ ambulance. After shifting the body to Thodupuzha District Hospital, Thankamma was taken to Kottayam Medical College Hospital but died on the way.

The initial conclusion is that a verbal dispute resulted in the murder. It is not known which weapon Ajesh used for the murder. There are no other houses within 200 meters of the house where the murder took place. Both of them were hacked on their heads. The police were trying to nab Ajesh and get more information.

There were regular fights in their house. Ajesh behaved in such a manner that he was mentally unstable. Their neighbours said Ajesh had threatened them from entering the house and said would kill them if they did. Ajesh had served sentence in a POCSO case. Ajesh later lived in his wife's house in Kumali and his own house in Moolamattom for a long time. He has a four-year-old child. Ajesh was a pandal worker at a decoration firm in Arakkulam.

He was working in Puliyanmala for a few days. He went for work from his wife's house in Kumali. He had reached home in Moolamattom two days ago. On Tuesday night, he fell from his bike while returning home drunk and injured his head. His relative then took him to the hospital in an auto and brought him home after treatment.
