THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala has sent a letter to the Centre asking to recall Governor Arif Mohammad Khan. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has written to the President and Prime Minister in thsi regard. In the letter, Kerala has pointed out that the governor is not fulfilling his duties and constantly violating the protocol. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had earlier said that there is a situation where the central government needs to be requested in writing to recall the governor and that he will consider the matter.
The Chief Minister alleges that the governor is taking extraordinary measures. "The central government should check the behavior of the governor. It is unprecedented in the country's history for a person in an official position to charge towards protesters. Law enforcement officials are there to see if things are going wrong. There is no need for him to intervene personally. He is in a mental state where he could utter just about anything. Is that the right way?", the CM had asked before.
"Not only he is making personal insults, but a state is being insulted. If the intention is not to worsen the central-state relations, there should be interventions to correct such attitudes. An extremely provocative atmosphere is being created. The state government will have to make a serious allegation that the governor is trying to destroy the peaceful atmosphere of Kerala,'' said the Chief Minister.
