PAARL: Putting an end to the 8-year-long wait of Malayali cricket fans, Kerala's very own Sanju Samson has completed his first century in international cricket. Sanju scored his maiden century in the third ODI against South Africa in Paarl. He scored 108 runs in 114 balls, including six fours and three sixes.
Sanju's maiden century came in his 17th ODI match. Before this, he had four half-centuries to his credit. His previous highest score was 89 against South Africa in 2022 at Lucknow.
This innings was very crucial for Sanju. He did not get to bat in the first match of the series and was dismissed for just 12 in the second match.
Batting first, India 296 for 8 in its allotted 50 overs. The Malayali star also managed to build a century partnership with youngster Tilak Verma.
