KOCHI: The High Court has denied the anticipatory bail plea of Former Senior Government Pleader Adv P G Manu. Justice P Gopinath ruled that if Manu surrenders within ten days, he must appear before the magistrate promptly for the bail application's consideration.
Manu, in his bail application asserted that the alleged behaviour did not originate from him. He claimed that the case is part of a deliberate strategy by his professional rivals. Following the complaint received by the Rural SP, a case was registered against Manu prompting his resignation as senior government pleader at the High Court.
The complaint dates back to the visit of the complainant to Manu last October concerning a 2018 case. Subsequently, the young woman reportedly faced threats and harassment both at the lawyer's office and her residence in Kadavantra. Charges against the lawyer include the unauthorized capture of a private picture of the complainant and sending an indecent message to her phone leading to the application of the IT Act.
