THRISSUR: On Friday, news surfaced about SFI-DYFI workers going berserk, and destroying a police vehicle in Chalakudy. Videos and pictures of the event also appeared in the news and social media, ridiculing the servile attitude of the police to the SFI-DYFI rampage.
And now more details have emerged from the incident. According to police details, one SFI worker was made to pay a fine for not wearing a helmet. This incident offended the leadership and a retaliation was made by DYFI leader Nidhin Pullen and gang on Friday.
Just days back, police caught SFI workers riding in bike celebrating the party victory in the ITI election. The SFI workers responded by breaking the glass of the police jeep and then climbing on top of the vehicle to further smash it. They also threatened the police officials inside the jeep.
After the incident, Nidhin Pullen was arrested by police and was taken into custody by force. But after some time, a gang led by Chalakudy Area Secretary Ashokan forcedly entered the station and released Nidhin, who has been absconding since then.
In the incident, a total of 1o people were arrested by police.
