THRISSUR: The police have taken DYFI leader Nidin Pullan in custody in the incident of SFI-DYFI activists smashing a police jeep in Chalakkudy. He was caught by the police from Ollur in Thrissur, where he was hiding in his friend's house.
The incident happened yesterday. According to police reports, the jeep was smashed after imposing a fine for not wearing a helmet.
The police fined the DYFI activists for riding a motorcycle without wearing helmets during the jubilant demonstration after the ITI election victory. After this, the windshield of the police vehicle was smashed and threatened by the police officers inside it.
After the incident, when the police came to arrest Nidhin Pullan, CPM workers stopped them. But Nidin Pullen was taken into custody by the police using force. After that, the activists led by Chalakkudy Area Secretary Ashokan released him.
In the incident, DYFI Chalakudy Regional Secretary Jeo Kaitharan and around 10 people were detained by the police. Four SFI workers are also in custody.
