THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: LDF convener EP Jayarajan defended the police action against the march led by KPCC to the DGP office. Jayarajan said that the Congress leaders encouraged violence and when they threw chilli powder, the police used teargas to restore peace. EP Jayarajan also asked whether there was any need to call Sudhakaran, who was unwell, to the march.
"As soon as the march began, there was an atmosphere of terror as the activists used sticks, rods and swords like those used by the RSS. They came in front of the DGP's office in a frenzied demonstration in which boards and banners were destroyed on both sides. The police maintained maximum restraint. Should they be allowed to pelt stones at stones and do everything at their will?," Jayarajan asked.
"If there is an attack on the police, they will have to defend themselves. Chilli powder was used as an egg filling and the police had to use tear gas to maintain peace. Some may experience dizziness and burning sensation due to this," he said.
"Sudhakaran is unwell. He is going for treatment. VD Satheesan is bringing such a person to this place and inciting conflict," he added.
