THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Navakerala Sadas, which was conducted by the state cabinet from the north to the south of the state for the first time in the history of Kerala, concluded at Vattiyoorkavu.
The journey of the Chief Minister and Ministers, which started from Manjeswaram on November 18, reached Vattiyoorkavu, the final destination, at 7.20 pm. The Navakerala bus arrived with the accompaniment of Chendamelam and art forms including Theyam, enthralling thousands.
The people cheered when the Chief Minister greeted the people sitting on the bus. "Salutations, Salutations a thousand greetings to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan', they screamed.
About five thousand people came to participate in the closing ceremony. The ceremony started at 6 pm. Minister Antony Raju presided. Ministers K Rajan, P Rajeev, MB Rajesh, Roshy Augustine and VK Prashant MLA were also present on the stage. Roshy Augustin was the first to speak followed by Minister P Rajeev and K Rajan. The Chief Minister and Ministers laid out the achievements of the state under the LDF rule and the future goals before the people. They explained about the crises to be faced in the path of development. In the concluding meeting, the Chief Minister and Ministers also explained about the losses incurred by Kerala due to the financial attacks of the Central Government.
Gift to the Cabinet; Navakerala sculpture
The Navakerala statue was received by the chief minister and ministers after the closing ceremony of Navakerala Sadas. The sculpture was prepared by Unni Kanai. Minister Antony Raju presented the Chief Minister's portrait prepared by Vibe Media to the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister also handed over the keys to the houses constructed by Saigram for the endosulfan victims. Famous dancer Chitra Mohan received the Saparya award of Guru Gopinath village from the Chief Minister. CM handed over Rs 4 lakh donated by Jalaja teacher to the LIFE housing scheme to a beneficiary who was classified as extremely poor.
