NEW DELHI: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan will personally meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to give an explanation regarding the letter written by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to the President and the Centre against him. The Governor will meet Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday with an explanatory note prepared in Hindi. He has sought permission to meet the Prime Minister the next day.

In his letter, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had alleged that the Governor was continuously violating protocol and was not performing his constitutional duties, including signing the bills passed by the Assembly. The CM raised the allegations against the Governor in the context of the extraordinary events that took place at Calicut University.

According to sources, the Governor's note contains serious allegations against the Chief Minister such as trying to attack him using party workers. The Governor will inform that when there was a protest against him on the road on the way to the airport, he got out of the car in self-defence and if he had not got out, he would have been attacked in the car.

The Governor will also accuse the state of deliberately making a lapse in his security. The protesters bypassed the police and entered the Raj Bhavan premises. He will also ask the Centre to make a decision to entrust the security of the Governors to the central forces. The Chief Minister had demanded that the Governor was taking extraordinary measures and the central government should check his behaviour. According to the CM, the Governor's reactions against the SFI workers and the trip to Mittayi Theruvu in Kozhikode were deliberately to create a provocation. He also pointed out that these incidents were examples of constant violations of security protocol by the Governor.
