KANNUR: Former DCC Secretary C Raghunath will join BJP. He will receive membership from BJP president JP Nadda in Delhi this evening. C Raghunath had contested as a Congress candidate against Pinarayi Vijayan in the Dharmadom constituency in the last assembly elections. Raghunath left the Congress due to disagreements with the leadership.

Raghunath was a close follower of KPCC president K Sudhakaran. He informed that he had to face neglect from the Congress leadership for a long time and submitted his resignation letter to the KPCC leadership.

"I was isolated in the party from the side of the leadership. I was avoided from many events.' He said that he was not even included in UDF's Vicharana Sadas held at Dharmadam. 'When there is a political leadership in the party that chooses not to have me who contested against the CM in Dharmadam, on stage, I cannot get along with them', he added.

"Even though I was active during Covid, the party has not invited me to any events since then. With the arrival of the new DCC leadership, they are completely ignoring me and my followers." Raghunath said that he was the one who started KSU activities at Brennan College in 1973 along with Sudhakaran. He was the chairman of the Kannur election committee with Sudhakaran in the last three elections.

For the past six months, he had complained to KPCC president K Sudhakaran about the situation in which he was being excluded from the party activities, but there was no solution. He had posted a Facebook post hinting about quitting the party. The Facebook note was prefaced with the introduction of 'I apologize if some of my statements are causing trouble to anyone'. However, the post was withdrawn later. It was rumoured that this was due to the interference of the leadership.
