PATHANAMTHITTA: With barely days left for the revered Mandala puja, Sabarimala saw more than one lakh devotees visiting the shrine on Sunday alone, making it one of the most recorded rush in this current season. 1,00,969 people came to Sannidhanam yesterday. Out of this, 5798 people came through the Erumeli route. As per reports, a total of 5 lakh devotees visited the shrine between last Monday and Yesterday.
The rush is still intact on Monday at Sabarimala, with long queues visible from Neelimala to Sannidhanam. Many had to wait for 15 hours in the queue to get Darshan from the holy shrine.
Disaster Relief Sena and Central Rapid Action Force are present at Sannidhanam and Pamba to control the traffic, however, their services are not available at Sharanapatha. On Sunday, heavy traffic congestion occurred in Pathanamthitta Edathavalam, Perunad, Laha, Plapally, Erumeli, Kanamala, Naranamthodu and Elavunkal. Vehicles were stopped for hours in the scorching sun.
