THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The newly restored cultural pilgrimage spot of the capital city, Manaveeyam Veedhi has been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Police had to deploy more of its officials after brawls and petty fights turned into a common sight in this area. There were also attempts to manhandle police officials at times which added to the worry.

However now, after a few days of respite, Manaveeyam is back again hitting headlines for another brawl that happened on Sunday. Two gangs fought each other in front of police officials due to some differences over parking vehicles. The heated exchanges between the two gangs soon morphed into blows and punches. One police officer who got involved in the fight was injured and is currently under treatment.

Four people involved in the fracas were taken into custody by Museum police. It was only a few days back that the authorities extended the time limit in Manaveeyam to early morning 5 am. The most sought-after spot in Thiruvananthapuram city is earning all-black marks for the recurring untoward incidents.

Recently, there were also reports of helmet theft in the area. It is accused that police are keeping a blind eye on the incident even after receiving many complaints.
