THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A leopard was spotted in Ponmudi, the capital's main tourist center. The leopard was spotted in front of the Ponmudi police station at 8.30 Tuesday morning. The policemen saw it entering the forest through the road. The police immediately informed the forest department.
The forest department reached the spot and searched but could not trace the leopard. The place is under surveillance by the officials of the forest department. Many tourists are visiting the place as part of Christmas and New Year holidays. In this situation, the presence of leopards raises serious concerns.
