THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Shashi Tharoor MP hinted about contesting from Thiruvananthapuram constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Saying that the next election will be his last, Tharoor also opened up about what would happen if Prime Minister Narendra Modi be his opponent. He was talking in a special interview program of a private channel. In the interview, he also talked about contesting the assembly elections.
When asked what would happen if Prime Minister Narendra Modi contests in Thiruvananthapuram, Tharoor said that even if Narendra Modi comes and contests, no one can defeat him. 'I am interested in competing in Thiruvananthapuram. However, the final decision has to be taken by the party. The people have seen my service and me too. They know all my qualities, abilities and inabilities. If they feel that it is enough, they have the right to change their MP,’ Tharoor.
‘When I first entered politics, my dream was to become the foreign minister. It didn't become a reality. Now the possibility of becoming that is in the hands of the people. Now my wish is to contest for the fourth time if the party asks me. It will be my last contest. Will become an MP one more time,' said Tharoor. On the question of whether he will contest assembly polls, he said that his present focus is on the Lok Sabha. After all that, Tharoor replied that he would see the political situation at that time.
