PALAKKAD: A three-year-old child sleeping with her parents was sexually abused in Naduppuni. The Kozhinjampara police took into custody a 77-year-old man identified as Kanthaswamy of Villoonni. The incident happened this morning at 5.30 am.

The child, who was sleeping with her migrant parents on the roadside, was taken to a distance of 50 meters and sexually abused. The 77-year-old was arrested and handed over to the police by the parents who came running after hearing the child crying.

Presently the child is undergoing treatment at Palakkad District Hospital. The police informed that the child is out of danger and will be shifted to Thrissur Medical College. The suspect is being interrogated. A case has been registered against the accused under sections including POCSO. The accused will be produced in the court today.
