The organization is headed by Masarat Alam Bhat, chairman of the extremist wing of the All India Hurriyat Conference, which was led by separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Alam, 50, is in Tihar jail in a terrorist funding case. There are many cases against him. Security has been beefed up in Jammu following the banning of the organization.
