MALAPPURAM: Samastha Kerala Jem-iyyathul Ulama’s mouthpiece strongly criticized the ambiguity within the Congress party in participating in the inauguration ceremony of the new Ram temple in Ayodhya. The article warned the Congress party that the Dalits and minorities would consider moving to another political alternative if the party failed to protect their interest.

‘Will Congress set foot in the temple land where a mosque was demolished once’, the headline in the article was forthright and it also heaped praises on CPM for its hasty decision denying the invitation. The article cheered Sitaram Yechury’s resoluteness while lamenting Sonia Gandhi’s spiritless mien in the face of a challenge.

“ Congress wants to participate in the event or else face a humiliating defeat across the Hindi heartland. Their soft Hindutva stance was chastised much and was considered the mainspring for the party’s humiliating defeats in recent elections. The party looks to bounce back from the trouncing and should make the most of 2024. For this purpose, Congress needs to adopt a fierce Hindutva stance similar to what is espoused by the BJP. We don’t know who is guiding Congress to adopt such puerile political tactic that uses religion as a weapon to win votes.” the article said.

The article then asked the Congress leadership to ally with secular democratic parties and warned not to fall into the BJP's trap of dividing the country on a religious basis.
