ALLEPPEY: Actor and prominent stunt master Jolly Bastin (57) of 'Jolly's Mansion' Malleshpalya Thippasandra in Bengaluru has passed away. He died at Alappuzha Medical College Hospital on Tuesday night at 8 pm due to a heart attack. Jolly and his family had come to celebrate Christmas at his wife Lovely's home in Punnapra.

He was admitted to the Medical College Hospital on Tuesday morning due to abdominal pain. He had a heart attack while undergoing treatment. Funeral will be held on Friday at 4 pm at St. Mary's Church Cemetery, Basavanagar, Bengaluru. Children: Film star Amit and Nidhi Juliet. Son-in-law: Bino Varghese.

Jolly, the son of John Bastin, a native of Kochi and Cinderella, a native of Alappuzha, made his Kannada debut at the age of 17 as a hero's dupe. He entered the film industry through bike stunting. Later he became a disciple of famous stunt director Thyagarajan. Becoming South India's busiest action director, Jolly has worked independently in over 900 films and over 400 films in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam languages. Mammootty's Kannur Squad is the last movie in Malayalam where Jolly worked as a stunt director.

He was a stunt master for films like Butterflies, Johnnie Walker, Kammatipadam, Masterpiece, Angamaly Diaries, Nna Thaan Case Kodu and Kaduva. He also appeared as a villain in the film Silence. He has directed two films in Kannada and Tamil languages.
