AYODHYA: The door of the sanctum sanctorum, which enshrines Ram Lalla (the boy Rama), the main idol of the Ram Temple, was carved by a team of craftsmen including Malayalees. Subhash, a native of Poovar, and Ganapathy, a Malayali living in Thakala, Tamil Nadu, are working on it, as are a 20-member team of carpenters and artisans. They are members of Malayali-Tamil families who have traditionally done work related to temple construction.
The door of the shrine has been installed. Checked and verified to confirm that everything is perfect. An image of the national bird peacock has been engraved on the door. After copper was plated on the door, the process of gold plating over it began. The Ram Lalla deity is on the ground floor of the temple. The opening ceremony will be held there on January 22. The workers told the Kerala Kaumudi correspondent who visited the place that the entire woodwork on the ground floor would be completed before January 15.
They have been in Ayodhya for a year. They prepare their own food. A company in Hyderabad has been awarded the contract to build the doors. Malayalis and Tamils are working for them under K Ramesh Sthapathy's Manasa Wood Creations in Mamallapuram, Tamil Nadu. A style of construction called Vesara, which is a combination of the Nagara style of temple construction in North India and the Dravidian style of South India, is being followed.

The finest, brown colored A grade teak of the Balharshah variety is being used. They were brought from the forest of Chandrapur district of Maharashtra. The door to the shrine can be folded. The folded ones will be opened when the traffic increases.
