KOZHIKODE: A huge stash of cannabis smuggled in a secret compartment of a car was seized in the city. The police arrested two people from Kasaragod in the case. Abu Bakar (39) and Muhammad Faisal (36) were arrested with 52 kg of ganja.

Ganja was brought to Kozhikode by road from Bengaluru by car. A total of 51.9 kg of ganja was recovered from them. According to the police, a secret compartment was specially prepared in the car to store cannabis.

The accused brought cannabis to the city with the aim of selling it in large quantities for the New Year's Eve celebrations. The police said that they are investigating whether anyone else was involved in the incident. The drugs were stored in bags in a secret compartment in the vehicle at the pay parking at YMCA Cross Road.

Police conducted the investigation based on the confidential information received by Kozhikode Deputy Police Commissioner Arjun Paiwal. The investigation team stated that the intoxicants were brought to be handed over to small traders.

Nadakkave police and the shadow team led by Anti-Narcotics Assistant Commissioner P Jacob arrested the drug trafficking gang.
