THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: K B Ganesh Kumar and Kadannappally Ramachandran will take oath as ministers today. The swearing-in ceremony will be at a special venue organised at Raj Bhavan at 4 pm. Ganesh will be given the transport department and Kadannappally will be given the port department.
As per the previous agreement of the Left Front, Antony Raju and Ahmed Devarkovil, who completed two and a half years in the cabinet, tendered their resignations. Instead, the front decided to induct Kerala Congress B’ K B Ganesh Kumar and Congress S' Kadannappally Ramachandran as ministers. Governor Arif Muhammad Khan will administer the oath of office to the two. The venue at Raj Bhavan will be able to accommodate a thousand people. After the swearing-in ceremony, there will be a tea party organised by the Governor. The governor and the chief minister will share the dais together at a time when differences of opinion between the two are severe.
Ganesh Kumar may get the transport department vacated by Antony Raju and Kadannappally Ramachandran the ports department of Ahmed Devarkovil. The chief minister should decide the portfolios. Kerala Congress B has demanded that Ganesh Kumar should be given the film department as he is a film actor. The film department, which is currently in the hands of the party, will be given to Ganesh only if the CPM takes a decision. As soon as the swearing in is over, the new ministers will come to the office and take charge.
