CAPE TOWN: India's leading player is at injury risk during the South Africa tour. All-rounder Shardul Thakur was injured when a ball hit his shoulder during practice. The ball thrown by coach Vikram Rathod landed on Thakur's shoulder. A video of Thakur sitting in pain at the training ground with a shoulder strap has surfaced already. The second match of the India-South Africa Test series will begin on January 3. It is not yet clear whether the star's injury is serious. Scanning will be done if necessary. Only after this it can be confirmed if the injury is problematic. Thakur was injured by the ball on his left hand.

In the first Test, India lost to South Africa by an innings and 32 runs. Thakur's performance in batting and bowling was a complete disappointment. After scoring 24 runs in the first innings, he fell by scoring just two runs in the second innings. In bowling, the player conceded 101 runs in 19 overs and took only one wicket. South Africa is the only SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia) country that India has yet to win against on foreign grounds. After losing the first Test, India once again lost the two-match series.
