PATHANAMTHITTA: A 73-year-old merchant of Mylapra was strangulated to death. The police have recovered the lungi and shirt used for the crime. The merchant has lost a chain of nine sovereigns and money. The police said that it was a murder during an attempted robbery. The case is being investigated by a special team under the supervision of SP.


It was found that the hard disk of the shop's CCTV was missing during police examination. The police are investigating the case after examining the CCTV visuals. The dead is George Unnunny (72), a native of Mylapra and a businessman.


The murder took place at George's Puduvelil Stores, a grocery shop at Mylapra Post Office Junction. When the grandson came to take George home at around 5:30 in the evening, found the body lying with his hands tied and cloth stuffed in his mouth.


The shop is in George's own building on the Punalur-Muvattupuzha road. A plastic sheet was tied in front of the shop as a cover from the midday sun. It is believed that the robbery team came after understanding the situation that the people in the shop could not be known immediately.
