THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Central Meteorological Department has warned of an impending low-pressure area in the Arabian Sea likely to intensify over the South Arabian Sea within the next 24 hours. Southern Kerala is anticipated to experience moderate to heavy rainfall until January 4 due to this weather system and prevailing easterly winds.

Fishermen operating along the Kanyakumari coast have been cautioned about strong winds with speeds ranging from 45 to 55 km/h peaking at times to 65 km/h today. Additionally, adverse weather conditions with wind speeds of 40 to 45 km/h occasionally reaching 55 km/h are expected over the central parts of the South Arabian Sea.

Between January 2 and January 3, there's a likelihood of strong winds persisting along the Kanyakumari coast with speeds varying between 40 to 45 km/h and occasional gusts up to 55 km/h. The Central Meteorological Department strongly advises against fishing activities in the specified regions on these dates due to the anticipated adverse weather conditions.
