THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An elderly woman in Chakkai faced severe abuse from her daughter, a teacher. Allegations include the daughter pouring hot water on her 80-year-old mother and dragging her on the ground.

The daughter of the teacher reported the abuse to the police providing them with video evidence. The complaint reveals a prolonged history of mistreatment toward the grandmother where despite suffering a stroke she was denied medical care and treatment.

Despite the daughter's return from abroad last September, the abuse continued unabated prompting her to file a complaint against her mother at Petta police station in October. However, the mother misled the police falsely claiming her daughter suffered from mental health issues stalling the investigation.

As a result of ongoing harassment, the daughter now resides elsewhere with no relatives visiting the house. Recently, she filed another complaint presenting footage of her mother abusing the grandmother urging authorities to relocate her grandmother to a safer environment urgently.

The daughter escalated the matter to the Women's Commission and the Human Rights Commission. Chairperson of the Women's Commission, P Sathidevi assured an investigation into the incident.
