THRISSUR: Incensed by the biased conduct followed by the Thrissur corporation in selectively removing the flex boards of PM Modi, the BJP conducted strong protest in the city with involvement from regional leaders.
Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit Thrissur on January 3rd, and as part of the proceedings, large cutouts of the PM were installed in major nooks and corners of the city. However, citing hazardous conditions, the corporation removed flex boards of the BJP which irked the saffron party leaders. When the corporation authorities started removing the boards, the BJP workers came out in large numbers confronting the officials. The corporation later backed out of the effort.
During Nava Kerala Sadas, flex boards of CM Pinarayi Vijayan were installed in the city and the corporation never paid such concern, alleged the BJP workers. The BJP allege a biased attitude from the corporation in selectively removing BJP flex boards while CPM cutouts remained untouched.
BJP leaders said that all norms of safety precautions were followed before installing flex bards in the city. With protests burgeoning, the corporation had to succumb to the pressure and allowed the flex boards to be installed back.
