KOCHI: A clash broke out before the Palarivattom police station after the Youth Congress workers, who waved black flags against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and other ministers in Thrikkakkara, were taken into custody by the police. Congress workers besieged the Palarivattom police station after the police refused to release the Youth Congress workers taken into custody.
Youth Congress Thrikkakkara mandalam president Georges, vice president Reneesh, and members Sanal, Muhammad Shefin, Vishnu, Rasheed and Siyad were taken into custody. Following this, Congress MLAs and leaders reached the Palarivattom station at night and besieged the station demanding the release of the Youth Congress workers. The besiege was led by Hibi Eden MP, MLAs Uma Thomas, TJ Vinod and DCC president Muhammad Shiyas.
Congress workers are continuing to protest by blocking the road. More policemen were assigned to the spot as the dispute between the police and the workers escalated into conflict.
