SHANKUMUGHAM: Two youngsters died brutally on New Year's Eve while engaging in bike racing stunts on Thiruvananthapuram Bypass road. Said Ali (22), of Akbar house in Pachalur and Shibin (25), a native of Varkala and now residing at Poojappura Link Road, died in the crash.

While the two were racing, their friends were filming the video from another bike. Police have received all these videos. On Sunday midnight, while travelling on two bikes from Eanchakkal to Thiruvallam via the bypass, Said Ali’s bike reached the top of Kallumoodu bridge and lost control, after hitting a divider. He along with the bike fell on the road. Shibin who was coming at high speed from behind crashed into Said Ali.

Both were seriously injured in the accident. The friend who was filming the video informed the control room about the accident. Police arrived and took both of them to the medical college hospital, but their life couldn't be saved. The police said that the youths who had arrived on bikes for the New Year celebration were going to Kovalam after attending a DJ party in Eanchakkal and the accident occurred while filming the race.

Fort police registered a case and handed over the body to relatives after post-mortem. Said Ali’s body was buried at Pachallur Muslim Jamaat Mosque. Shibin's body was cremated at Shanthikavadam.
